Campfire Stories with Jesus: Two Sons

The UK looks and acts like a Christian nation with its manners, justice, and rights. But many of its churches have turned into pubs — literal pubs — that look very much like a church on the outside and contain the words of God and images of disciples. But those old church buildings lack true worshipers.

Pastor Levi Matteson continues with another Campfire Story with Jesus. After Jesus throws the money changers out of the temple, he tells a parable of two sons — one who repents and the other who only pays lip service to the master's will.

The Scripture text is from Matthew 21:23-32. This is a podcast of Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, December 8, 2019.

But why only some understand the spiritual meaning? Pastor Levi Matteson continues Campfire Stories with Jesus with a message from Matthew 13:1-23. This is a podcast of Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, November 24, 2019.

Trader Joe's made popular the Two-Buck Chuck wine. It was cheap and easy, but it certainly wasn't the best. Jesus wanted the best for people, and he offered it even to tax collectors.

Pastor Levi Matteson continues with Campfire Stories with Jesus. What did Jesus mean about pouring new wine into old wineskins? Or sewing new fabric on old garments? Whatever he meant, the Pharisees didn't like that Jesus was associating with the typically corrupt bureaucrats.

The Scripture passages from Luke 5:27-39. This is a podcast of Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, November 17, 2019.

The final sermon at 1114 College Avenue!

Pastor Levi Matteson opens the word of God to Exodus 33 to tell the story of the Israelites fixing their eyes on the promise land. It really wasn't about the land, but about being in God's presence.

Pastor Levi tells the story of Evangel's journey to find space for those who want to attend, which led to the purchase of our new facility at 900 West Memorial Dr. The sermon concludes with a video of Evangel's history along with testimonials of those who encountered God at the College Avenue location and through this congregation.

This is a podcast of Evangel Community Church, Houghton, Michigan, November 3, 2019.
